Mike Tyson is making his return to combat sports programming this week, though he doesn’t have a boxing match scheduled. The legendary heavyweight will appear on All Elite Wrestling’s next episode of “AEW Dynamite.”

No stranger to the world of professional wrestling, Tyson was part of AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view event on May 23 of last year, followed by the subsequent episode of “AEW Dynamite.” After an 11-month absence, Tyson returns to the promotion Wednesday night on TNT.

“Mike Tyson always commands a massive ovation and the attention of fans worldwide,” said Tony Khan, CEO, GM and Head of Creative of AEW, as part of a press release. “I’m excited for everyone here in Jacksonville, and for those watching on TNT and around the world, to see what Mike Tyson has in store for AEW.”

Tyson got into a brawl with Chris Jericho the last time he was seen on “AEW Dynamite.” Could that feud be furthered Wednesday?

It was 23 years ago that Tyson found himself in the middle of the wrestling world’s top feud. The boxing legend brawled with Stone Cold Steve Austin on an episode of “Monday Night Raw” and was named the special enforcer for the WWE Championship Match between Austin and Shawn Michaels in the main event of WrestleMania 14.

It’s likely no coincidence that Tyson is returning to AEW during WWE’s biggest week of the year. With WrestleMania 37 scheduled for Saturday and Sunday night, WWE has special programming all week.

When Tyson appears on “Dynamite” Wednesday, the first night of WWE’s “NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver” will be airing on the USA Network.

Tyson fought to a draw against Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition boxing match in November. The 54-year-old is expected to have another fight this year.
