Miles Teller revealed that the cast members of "Top Gun: Maverick" were like "mini Toms" as they went through a training program they called "Tom Cruise boot camp" for three months.

"We were all mini Toms making this movie," Teller told Total Film magazine Monday, GamesRadar reported. "[Tom Cruise] He put us through... I’ll just call it a 'Tom Cruise boot camp'. We were getting in killer shape."

"And also for the stunts and stuff that Tom does in movies, it’s usually a very specific type of training," the 35-year-old actor added. "You’re not just going into the gym and lifting some weights. We did flight training for three months before we started filming... We got put through the wringer."

The first installment of the movie, "Top Gun" was dropped in 1986 while the second installment, "Top Gun: Maverick" is slated to release on May 27.

Jerry Bruckheimer, who served as a producer on the first installment too, said during the same interview that all actors in "Top Gun" were throwing up because they did not take any flight training.

"On the first movie, we put all the actors in an F-14, and we couldn’t use a frame of it, except for some stuff on Tom – that was it," Bruckheimer explained. "Their eyes were rolling back into their heads. They were throwing up.

"So Tom remembered that, and since he’s an avid pilot, he said, 'We’ve got to train them to be able to handle the g-forces,'" he told the outlet.

Cruise also recalled working on the first installment, noting, he wanted to give his audience an experience of how it’s like to be a fighter pilot and understand its culture.

"When I first committed to the first Top Gun, I did it based on the fact that I’d be filmed in the F-14, and I’d get to fly in the F-14," he explained. "I wanted to give the audience that experience of what it’s like being a fighter pilot, and what that world is like, and the culture of it."

"Top Gun: Maverick" is helmed by director Joseph Kosinski. It also stars Val Kilmer, Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell and Monica Barbaro.
