Millie Bobby Brown just celebrated her 16th birthday and she took to social media for spreading kindness on the special occasion. The actress took to Instagram and posted a lengthy message, reflecting on her career and how she has felt scrutinized by the media unnecessarily.

The “Stranger Things” star used the milestone to publicly criticize those who have made “inappropriate comments” about her since becoming famous after portraying the character of Eleven in the blockbuster Netflix series. She further stated that the last few years have not been kind to her.

She started her post by noting that there is a need for change right now, not just for this generation but for the upcoming generation, too. The world needs kindness so that kids could become what they want to and find “success” in their lives, according to her.

She also admitted that the last few years have not been “easy” for her and there have been many moments when she felt really “frustrated” by all the inappropriate comments that have been coming toward her at such a tender age.

“I feel like change needs to happen for not only this generation but the next. Our world needs kindness and support in order for us children to grow and succeed. The last few years have not been easy, I will admit that. There are moments I get frustrated from the inaccuracy, inappropriate comments,” Bobby Brown said.

The acclaimed star also explained how she has been “sexualized” throughout her career and all the “insults” that she received have only resulted in pain and sorrow. But she insisted that she never back down and will continue to do what she loves the most.

“I feel frustrated from sexualization, and unnecessary insults that ultimately have resulted in pain and security for me. But not ever will I be defeated. I’ll continue doing what I love and spreading the message,” Brown said.

Alongside the post, she also shared a video clip with her followers, featuring all the negative news and headlines about her.

“I hope this video informs you about the things that go on behind the scenes of the headlines and flashing lights. Don’t worry I'll always find a way to smile ;) leggo 16,” the actress concluded.

The clip features Justin Bieber’s latest song “Changes” in the background. A string of celebrities like Noah Schnapp, Bella Hadid, and Yara Shahidi applauded the young actress for her inspiring message and wished her all the success on the occasion of her birthday.

The actress will be next seen in Harry Bredbeer’s “Enola Holmes.” The movie also stars Henry Cavill (Sherlock Holmes), Sam Claflin (Mycroft Holmes), and Helena Bonham Carter (Mrs. Holmes). The movie is scheduled to hit theaters later this year.
