It’s only Week 5 of the 2020 NFL season, but there’s plenty on the line in Sunday night’s matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings. Seattle is looking to maintain its perfect record and spot atop the NFC, while Minnesota is just trying to make up for beginning the year on a three-game losing streak.

The Vikings finally got in the win column last week with a 31-23 victory over the Houston Texans. The Seahawks improved to 4-0 by defeating the Miami Dolphins, also by a score of 31-23 in Week 4.

The early point spread favors Seattle by seven points, according to odds compiled by OddsShark. The betting line is 57.5, which is the largest on the entire Week 5 schedule.

Both defenses rank near the bottom of the league. It will likely result in a high-scoring affair at CenturyLink Field.

The Seahawks are dead last in total yards allowed and 29th in opponents’ yards per play. The Vikings rank 29th and 25th, respectively, in the two categories. Minnesota has surrendered more points than Seattle.

A poor defense, however, hasn’t stopped the Seahawks from winning each week. Russell Wilson continues to perform at an MVP-level, and there’s little reason to believe that will change against the Vikings.

Wilson leads all quarterbacks with a 136.7 passer rating and a 75.2% completion rate. Seattle’s signal caller is off to a historic start with 16 touchdown passes and two interceptions. He’s led the Seahawks to over 30 points in every single game.

The Vikings are without their top cornerbacks and pass rushers from last season. It’s been very apparent through the first month of the season against the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers and Ryan Tannehill. Wilson will only add to Minnesota’s struggles.

Minnesota’s only chance to threaten Seattle is in a shootout. Kirk Cousins has performed better in the last two weeks after a rough start. Cousins has six touchdowns and six interceptions, clearly affected by the loss of Stefon Diggs.

The Seahawks are 4-0 against the spread. The Vikings are 1-3 straight up and 2-2 ATS.

Pete Carroll is 4-0 as Seattle’s head coach against Mike Zimmer and Minnesota.

Seattle has defeated Minnesota in each of the last two seasons, winning by 14 points in 2018 and a touchdown in 2019. With the Vikings taking a step back this season and Wilson playing as well as he ever has, the Seahawks should win this one going away.

Prediction: Seattle over Minnesota, 34-24
