One person was arrested after the body of a missing Georgia woman was found in the crawl space of a home Tuesday morning.

Investigators arrived at the home in Bethlehem after receiving some information about Kim Mason. The woman, whose age was not revealed, was reported missing from Gwinnett County, Barrow County Sheriff's Office said in a statement on Facebook.

"Upon further investigation at the scene, investigators determined there was evidence of a crime and obtained a search warrant for the residence," Barrow County deputies said in a news release. While searching the house, investigators noticed an area in the crawl space of the house where the dirt had been disturbed.

"The search of the residence revealed a deceased body buried in the crawlspace of the residence and it was confirmed that the deceased was Kim Mason," the statement said.

It wasn't clear how she died or how long she had been missing. The body of Mason was later sent for an autopsy.

Investigators said they arrested Adam Heard, 40, and charged him with concealing the death of another, tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by taking (motor vehicle), theft by taking and violating his probation. It was not clear if Heard was the owner of the house. He was held at the Barrow County Detention Center and was awaiting his trial.

Authorities said more charges could be filed against Heard based on the result of the autopsy. It was unclear if Heard and Mason knew each other.

The case is being investigated by the Barrow County Sheriff's Office, along with Gwinnett police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, according to 11Alive.
