And then there was one. “Mistresses” will be wrapping up its action-packed third season on Thursday with episode 13, titled “Goodbye Girl.” Aaccording to the finale synopsis of the hit ABC series, fans will be left sitting on the edges of their seats until the very final second of the crime-ridden installment.

In episode 12 of “Mistresses,” Calista (Jennifer Esposito) made the first selfless decision of her life by taking the wrap for Luca’s (Noam Jenkins) murder. (Go big or go home, right?) This was so that Joss (Jes Macallan) wouldn’t have to make a plea deal and spend the next five years of her innocent life behind bars.

“I killed my husband alone. Joss had nothing to do with it,” she confessed to police, proving that Joss really was her friend. During the previous installment, the blonde-haired mistress questioned whether Calista was truly capable of friendship. Looks like she got her answer.

But “just as Joss gets her freedom, Harry (Brett Tucker) is presented with an exciting new job opportunity that will impact a future with her,” the summary reveals. Really, Harry? The second Joss gets to ditch her prison jumpsuit you’re already contemplating a decision that could ruin your relationship? At this point, we’re thinking maybe these star-crossed lovers should just call it quits. They never seem to be on the same page.

Speaking of ill timing, April (Rochelle Aytes) will “realize her true feelings” for sweet Marc (Rob Mayes) when he disappears in episode 13. As soon as Scotty (Jayden White) leaves Los Angeles, Uncle Marc scurries out from under April’s roof. Little did he know that his vanishing act would make April fall for him. Guess absence really does make the heart grow fonder!

Karen (Yunjin Kim) will also find herself in a less than desirable situation following Vivian’s (Sonja Bennett) relapse. In episode 12, Karen learned that her lover’s liver was failing despite the stem cells she had given to Alec’s (Ed Quinn) wife. This prompted Vivian to question how much time she had left – a question her doctor didn’t know how to answer.

With a grim response like that, audiences knew it was only a matter of time before Vivian succumbed to her disease. So when Viv fainted and collapsed to the floor moments before Alec’s big night (he was accepting an award for his lifetime achievements) we weren’t too surprised.

But according to the synopsis, Vivian is still alive. Phew!

“Vivian’s illness takes a turn for the worse, leaving Karen adrift and unsure of the future,” the summary explains. Hey, we’ll take “turn for the worse” over death any day.

Lastly it was revealed that Joss will receive a “confusing gift” from Calista, which will spark her mission to find out who the real killer is and if they’re still on the loose.
