The Los Angeles Dodgers have managed to exceed their already lofty expectations. L.A. entered the 2022 MLB season as the overwhelming favorite to win the World Series, and the team is on pace to finish with the most wins in franchise history.

Through 110 games, the Dodgers' 77-33 record is the best in baseball. Los Angeles has a five-game lead over the New York Mets atop the overall 2022 MLB standings. The Dodgers are seven games ahead of the Houston Astros and New York Yankees, who are tied for the best record in the American League.

If the Dodgers continue to win 70% of their games, the team will finish with a 113-49 record. Doing so would shatter the franchise record of 106 wins in a season, which Los Angeles set in 2019 and tied last year.

Los Angeles has virtually wrapped up the NL West title, even though 52 games remain on the regular-season schedule. The Dodgers have a 16-game lead on the second-place San Diego Padres.

San Diego was the most active team at the trade deadline, acquiring Juan Soto, Josh Bell and Josh Hader. The moves have not paid immediate dividends. The Padres went on a five-game losing streak shortly after the deadline, including a three-game sweep at the hands of the Dodgers.

With the National League's best record, the Dodgers only made minor moves at the trade deadline. Los Angeles hasn't been defeated since the deadline, extending its winning streak to 10 games Wednesday night.

Joey Gallo propelled the Dodgers to an 8-5 win over the Minnesota Twins with a pinch-hit home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Los Angeles traded for Gallo at the deadline, adding outfield depth for the final few months of the season.

The Yankees traded Gallo after he hit just .159 in 82 games. The outfielder has played well in limited time with the Dodgers, hitting .267 with an .800 OPS in six games.

The Dodgers' biggest second-half additions are expected to be players returning from injury. Pitchers Clayton Kershaw, Dustin May, Blake Treinen, Brusdar Graterol could be back at various points within the next few weeks. Chris Taylor and Justin Turner returned to the lineup this week.

The team hopes that Walker Buehler will be back in time to start games during the playoffs.

Despite all of those health issues, the Dodgers have been dominant in every facet of the game. Los Angeles leads MLB in runs per game. The Dodgers' 2.89 ERA is the best in baseball, and only one other team has an ERA below 3.30. Los Angeles has the NL's top rotation and the best bullpen.

The Dodgers failed to reach the World Series in both 2019 and 2021, following franchise-best regular seasons. On their way to winning the 2020 World Series in the 60-game shortened season, Los Angeles was on pace for a 116-46 record over 162 games.

The Dodgers' plus-236 run differential is nearly twice that of the Mets, which rank second among NL teams at plus-127
