Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Thursday said his time at LA Galaxy made him "feel alive again" as he has confirmed that he has left the Major League Soccer (MLS) side.

The Swedish striker, who had a two-year stint with LA Galaxy, has decided not to renew his contract that expires in December. In 56 matches for Galaxy, Ibrahimovic scored 52 goals after leaving Manchester United in 2018. Unfortunately, his final appearance for Galaxy turned out to be a loss against their crosstown rivals, Los Angeles FC (LAFC) in the MLS Cup playoffs conference semi-finals.

In a Twitter post, Ibrahimovic asked his fans to "go back to watch baseball," as he has played his last match for Galaxy.

"I came, I saw, I conquered. Thank you LA Galaxy for making me feel alive again. To the Galaxy fans – you wanted Zlatan, I gave you Zlatan. You are welcome. The story continues … now go back to watch baseball," the 38-year-old striker wrote.

Ibrahimovic earned a place in the MLS Best XI in both his seasons in the US. Moreover, Galaxy reportedly offered him a two-year deal to extend his terms in California but the veteran denied it.

There have been reports revolving around the prospect of Ibrahimovic's return to his former Italian club, AC Milan, where he played between 2010 and 2012. In 2010, the Swedish player moved from FC Barcelona to the Serie A club on loan. However, the move turned into a permanent one the subsequent season.

LA Galaxy President Chris Klein took the opportunity to thank the legendary striker for his contribution in the last two seasons.

"Since his arrival in 2018, Zlatan has positively influenced the sport of soccer in Los Angeles. We are grateful for his work ethic and passion. We thank Zlatan for his professionalism and immeasurable impact on the Los Angeles community and the soccer community in North America as a whole," Klein added.

Earlier, MLS commissioner Don Garber revealed that Ibrahimovic is set to return to AC Milan. "Zlatan is such an interesting guy. He keeps my hands and inbox full. He's a thrill-a-minute. He is a 38-year-old guy who is being recruited by AC Milan, one of the top clubs in the world," Garber told ESPN.
