  • “Monster Hunter Rise” update 3.0 brings back the Valstrax and adds the Apex Zinogre
  • The update also adds a new ending to the main storyline
  • More content for "MH Rise" is planned for the next three months

The developer livestream for the “Monster Hunter Rise” Ver. 3.0 update has revealed some exciting new additions to the game, including a new ending to the main story, a new Apex monster and a never-before-seen variant of a beloved Elder Dragon.

The latest update is adding the Apex Zinogre and the Crimson Glow Valstrax to “Monster Hunter Rise.” Both monsters were fan-favorites in previous “Monster Hunter” games, but the Valstrax in particular is a monster that fans have wanted to fight again since “MHGU.”

For the unaware, the Valstrax is an Elder Dragon with powerful wings that allow it to fly at incredible speeds. The monster takes to the skies like a comet and crashes down on its enemies with lethal force. It was first introduced in “Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate” where it instantly became a fan favorite thanks to its awesome design and fun mechanics.

On the other hand, the Apex Zinogre is similar to “Rise’s” other apex monsters. It’s faster and much meaner than the normal Zinogre, featuring golden lightning instead of the usual light blue. The Apex Zinogre has new and more powerful attacks with moves similar to that of the dreaded Rajang.

Lastly, as was previously promised, a new ending for the game’s main storyline is getting added. The original ending left a bitter taste in some players as it offered no real resolution, but hopefully, the new one will give players the satisfaction they have been hoping for. “Monster Hunter” has never been a story-focused game, but having “Rise” end on a cliffhanger would be a waste nonetheless.

“Monster Hunter Rise” was very positively received at launch but faced some criticism due to its lack of endgame content relative to other “Monster Hunter” games. Capcom has since revealed its plans to continue supporting the game with incremental updates that would add more endgame content over time.

The “MH Rise” Ver. 3.0 patch cycle will last until August, and Capcom will be releasing new downloadable content and event quests for the game per month until the cycle ends. The first collaboration event for “MH Rise” will also take place in mid-June, featuring a crossover with “Monster Hunter Stories 2.”
