Police in Aurora, Illinois, are presently investigating a possible child abuse case after a video of a mother dragging her son by his hair was posted on social media. The incident took place Monday at a hospital.

The incident was videotaped by another woman present in the hospital at the time, Aurora Police said in a Facebook statement. The department said officials visited the Rush Copley Medical Centre on Monday around 4:40 p.m. local time (5:40 p.m. EST) after receiving the video.

The victim was identified as a five-year-old boy. According to the video, he was first dragged by his hair and later by the hood of his jacket. The mother then proceeded to ask him to stand in one corner, while the boy screamed in agony. The entire episode was also witnessed by her two-year-old son, who was present at the scene.

The mother resorted to her action after the boy started fighting with his younger brother, reported Mirror Online. Police said all individuals involved in the case were identified.

"Two children, the five year old and another two year old, are now staying with a relative," the statement read. Officials haven’t charged anyone as of Tuesday night.

In another incident, recorded earlier in January, a woman in Central China was detained by police after she filmed herself physically abusing her one-month-old daughter and posted it online.
