Sam Raimi has revealed some new details about the highly anticipated Marvel movie "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness." The director says Doctor Strange's character will undergo some changes in the upcoming movie.

Benedict Cumberbatch is playing Doctor Strange in the Marvel Studios movie, which will hit the theaters on May 6.

"He's grown a bit throughout the course of the Avengers movies, I've seen," Raimi said at a press meet held in Berlin on Thursday. "I think at the beginning of this film, he starts as a very self-assured – perhaps too much so – person who feels he's the one that's best in control of all the decisions."

In the previous installments, Doctor Strange showed less trust in other superheroes and tried to do everything on his own.

The director explained that the character will change in the upcoming movie as he will learn something new and start trusting others.

"It's safest that way... He has the most faith in himself, and not so much in other people," the director noted. "And I think in this picture, this little chapter in his life, he learns to let go a little bit. That it's not all about him [and] that he can trust others."

Following the director's comments, fans took to Twitter to share their own interpretations.

"That is why scarlet witch is in the movie," one Twitter user shared. "Not to overshadow him [Doctor Strange] but to make him realized that he's not the only one powerful in this universe which is great for strange's arc."

Another person noted that in Doctor Strange comics, the character used to trust Wanda Maximoff (played by Elizabeth Olsen in the movie) but she often broke his trust for some reason.

"In comics he did trust wanda...but every time for some reason wanda has to break his trust and leave him," the fan wrote. "That's the main reason why Clea left strange and got mad at him so many times...Infact in Avengers vs defenders, wanda chose to be with avengers."

The first installment of "Doctor Strange" was released in 2016. No individual movie based on this character was released after that.

However, the character was featured in other Marvel movies like "Avengers: Infinity War," "Avengers: Endgame" and "Spider-Man: No Way Home."
