Fans thought that Deacon and Beverly cheated death in the “Nashville” Season 4 premiere, but it looks like one of them will have to die. At the end of episode 2, Deacon’s (Charles Esten) sister had another brain aneurysm, leaving her on death’s door once again. However, according to the “Nashville” Season 4, episode 3 synopsis, Beverly (Dana Wheeler-Nicholson) won’t recover the way she did last time.

“A second aneurysm leaves Beverly brain dead and Deacon consumed with guilt,” the synopsis teases. Rayna’s (Connie Britton) love was already blaming himself when Beverly was in a coma and even when she woke up. However, judging from the promo video for episode 3, titled “How Can I Help You Say Goodbye,” Deacon’s guilt might play into his desire to keep Beverly on life support. According to the synopsis, that final decision will be up to Scarlett (Clare Bowen), and she might disagree with Deacon.

Meanwhile, Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) will continue to pretend her career is all she needs. After seemingly reconciling with her family and then quickly abandoning them after a photo op, Avery (Jonathan Jackson) might give up on her. “Juliette continues a destructive pattern of erratic behavior, pushing Avery to make the heart-wrenching decision to file for divorce,” the synopsis states. Will a divorce make her come to her senses or will she just fall even further until she hits rock bottom? It looks like she’ll choose the latter. In the trailer, she is seen partying with Luke (Will Chase).

Though he isn’t mentioned in the synopsis, the trailer makes it look like Teddy (Eric Close) will be a big part of the episode. This will be the first time fans have seen him since he was arrested for trying to pay off a prostitute with federal funds. It looks like Daphne (Maisy Stella) might have to accept that her father is a criminal.

“Nashville” Season 4, episode 3 airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
