A whole day dedicated to the sweet taste of deep fried dough topped with frosting — how much more American can you get?

On Friday, June 2, restaurants nationwide will be participating in National Donut Day. The date not only recognizes the tasty treat that is the donut — or doughnut, if you prefer — but was created to pay tribute to to the Salvation Army Lassies who served the dessert to soldiers during World War II.

LaMar’s Donuts

LaMar’s Donuts is giving away free food for a good cause this National Donut Day. On June 2, locations will be giving customers “any donut with a hole” free of charge. However, you will need this Golden Ticket in order to redeem the offer. The freebie ticket is only good on Friday, is valid one per customer and does not include specialty donuts.

For National Donut Day, LaMar’s is also partnering with The Salvation Army to help raise awareness and money for child hunger.

“During the summer months ahead, The Salvation Army will open its doors to children across the nation providing millions of meals to ensure that no kid goes to bed hungry. Help LaMar’s Donuts and The Salvation Army take a bite out of child hunger.”

The grand prize winner will take home a drone, second prize wins free donuts for a year (1 dozen each month) and 10 third-place prize winners will each get a $25 LaMar’s Donuts gift card.
