Most players’ dream is to see themselves on a video game and once your name was called on the NBA Draft, it is a guarantee that you will be part of the simulation – and even have the chance to play against everybody.

However, that wasn’t the case for Devin Booker as the Phoenix Suns’ All-Star guard didn’t use his team during his game against Michael Porter, Jr. in the NBA 2K Players Tournament.

The two young players select the team that they will be rocking when Porter, Jr. presented something to Booker, which is to follow what Domantas Sabonis and Montrezl Harrell did on their own game – Sabonis and Harrell decided to play with their teams Indiana Pacers and Los Angeles Clippers, respectively.

“You should just pick the Suns, I’ll pick the Nuggets,” said Porter, Jr., the Nuggets’ 14th pick in 2018.

“Ehh, no,” replied Booker.

The match-up turned out to be the battle of both conferences’ top-seeded team as both players opted not to play with their respective ball clubs – Booker chose to play with Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks while Porter, Jr. chose LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Social media put themselves in the shoes of the Suns' fans and they quickly flocked on to the post as their number one player didn’t choose his team.

To his defense, the 23-year old Booker cleared his case, saying that it isn’t just because of him ditching his own team but it has something to do with himself in the virtual game.

Per 2K rankings, Booker is ranked 34th among the highest-ranked players in 2K20 with a rating of 86. His rating is the highest for the Suns, who had DeAndre Ayton at a close second with an 85 rating and Kelly Oubre, Jr. with a rating of 81.

Their 2K game ended with Booker’s Bucks beat Porter, Jr’s Lakers, 85-75 and will face Washington Wizards’ rookie Rui Hachimura after beating Utah Jazz’ Donovan Mitchell, 74-71.
