  • Metta World Peace prefers to face Jake Paul in a game of basketball
  • He has no plans to take up boxing even if he's paid lucratively
  • Paul is being called out by legitimate prizefighters

Metta World Peace, also known as Ron Artest, has responded to the call for him to make a transition into boxing.

Being one of the physical players in the NBA, many felt that the 41-year-old was the best person to exact revenge on internet sensation Jake Paul who knocked out fellow former basketball player Nate Robinson recently.

To put a lid on the matter, the former NBA champion tweeted his response on the clamor to lace up a pair of boxing gloves.

The Queens, New York native stressed that he had no interest in fighting anyone for charity and that no amount of money would convince him to enter the ring.

In the NBA, Artest gained notoriety for getting involved in multiple physical altercations. However, most will never forget the brawl that happened in Detroit back in 2004.

Dubbed as “Malice in the Palace," the 2004 NBA Defensive Player of the Year was the center of the fiasco that also involved players like Ben Wallace as well as his then-teammates Stephen Jackson and Jermaine O’Neal.

Aside from that, he also had skirmishes with well-known cagers in the past. That list included Kobe Bryant and Paul Pierce.

Artest has since mellowed down after ending his career with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017. He has since ventured into coaching.

Artest may have shot down the idea of stepping into the squared-circle with Paul, but he is open to doing a game of one-on-one basketball with the YouTuber.

One player who would love to see that happen is Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz. When Artest posted that tweet, he responded by saying: “I’d pay to see Ron Artest go against Jake Paul.”

Ironically, Artest was spotted hanging out with Mike Tyson recently together with another NBA bad boy Dennis Rodman last Nov. 28. He shared a photo on Instagram, but it was not clear if any discussion tied to fighting was made.

As for Paul, his targets go beyond the world of basketball. Among the names linked to him include Conor McGregor and Dillon Danis.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has also been tied to the YouTuber, while former world champion Antonio Tarver also wants a piece of the 23-year-old.
