NBA Insider Not Buying Clippers Star's Rumored Exit, Believes Re-Signing Only Option

Kawhi Leonard will be one of the interesting free agents this summer, and speculations are rising.

Although the word going around is that the two-time NBA champion is likely to stay with the Los Angeles Clippers, some see Leonard possibly moving out.

Leonard has been known to be quiet about his plans, but critics are using the Clippers' performance last season as a barometer to figure out his future.

However, it appears none of those speculations hold any weight and ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski hints at what lies ahead for the five-time All-Star.

“I’ve gotten no indication that Kawhi Leonard is interested in doing anything but re-signing with the Clippers,” Wojnarowski stated.

The NBA Insider also made it clear that he never had the impression that Leonard would be leaving the Clips.

Aside from that, Wojnarowski claimed that he got the impression that head coach Tyronn Lue and Leonard were getting along pretty well.

It remains to be seen if this somehow douses water on speculations.

NBA trade talks involving Leonard rose when his injury got into the picture. The Clippers star missed the Western Conference Finals, and most felt that he could have made a difference against the Phoenix Suns.

Leonard underwent surgery to repair a partial tear on his right ACL, and there is no timetable on when he can return to action according to an official press release.

Regardless of the injury that Leonard sustained, Los Angeles is expected to try and keep him.

Leonard is an unrestricted free agent, wrapping up the three-year $103 million deal he signed with the Clippers during the 2019-20 season.

So assuming Wojnarowski’s call is accurate, it would be safe to say that Leonard will remain with the Clippers.

If so, the next thing that most will want to know is the type of contract he will agree to and the money tied up to that.
