Jaylen Brown appears to be the all-around player Celtics would need this season.

The versatile Celtics forward Brown continues to thrive while attacking the basket this preseason. In the team’s recent win against Cleveland Cavaliers, Brown completed a pick-and-pop with Gordon Hayward, and, instead of putting up a jumper, Brown soared through the lane and dunked over a defender.

However, the said highlight was just one of the many things Brown can contribute on the floor.

After beating the Cavs with a whopping 118-72 victory to win their third straight win in the preseason, Celtics Head Coach Brad Stevens revealed his thoughts about Brown.

According to Stevens, Brown can pretty much do everything inside the court. And fortunately, the C’s are lucky to have him in the team as the highflying forward has the initiative to contribute all the time, Mass Live reported.

“His energy always finds the ball and he’ll figure out ways even when his number is not called to get in the box score. He flies to the rim, he gets drives, he gets transition points, he gets putbacks, all that stuff,” Steven said about Brown.

Stevens also revealed that the Celtics will need Brown’s defensive skills this season as well. Apparently, Brown can stop any type of player assigned to him.

“We need him to be able to guard bigger guys and he’s proven that he can do that over time. He can be a guy that we put on the point guard in a game or put on a 4 in the game,” Stevens revealed.

Brown on his part, is just focused on building “good habits” as the season progresses. According to him, the said habits are what basically the Celtics are planning to carry for the rest of the year.

“I just wanted to come out and build good habits going into the season. I think that’s kind of what we’ve seen as a team. We’ve built some good habits we want to carry over into the regular season,” Brown stated.

Brown scored 10 points and grabbed 3 rebounds to go along with 3 assists as the Celtics downed the Cavs in their recent exhibition game. Daniel Theis finished with 10 points as well on 4-for-5 shooting.

Rookie guard Carsen Edwards uncorked an 11-point, 4-for-6 shooting performance while the team’s superstars Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker combined for 16 points. Walker displayed an impressive 3-point shooting game as he went 3 out of 3 from beyond the arc.
