  • Michael Jordan once explained how Allen Iverson could beat him in a 1-on-1 game
  • Jordan lauded Iverson for impressively crossing him up
  • Iverson said Jordan once scolded him about the said crossover move at a Charlotte Hornets game

Michael Jordan admitted Allen Iverson could have possibly beaten him after the famous crossover move.

To this day, Iverson’s famous crossover on Jordan remains one of the greatest highlights in NBA history. During a Sixers-Bulls game, the world has witnessed how a rookie Iverson crossed up the greatest player in the planet before hitting a sweet pull-up jumpshot. The said move quickly became phenomenal as it represented a clash of generations going head to head inside the court. “AI” was from the new era while MJ represented the older generation of NBA greats.

As expected, fans went crazy after the said crossover move. In fact, even Jordan himself was impressed with what the young Iverson did to him infront of thousands of people in attendance. Jordan believed Iverson could back up all the hype that was surrounding him at the time.

Basketball Network recently looked back at the time when Jordan addressed the said move during a guest appearance on one of the basketball summer camps back in 1998. The NBA GOAT was asked about whether he felt embarrassed by Iverson’s crossover.

Jordan was a player known for his competitiveness and winning mentality. But to everybody’s surprise, Jordan admitted it was a great crossover and that he always showed respect for players who bring the crowd to their feet.

What’s even more interesting was that MJ actually envisioned how Iverson could beat him in a 1-on-1 game.

“That was a great move. I’m never the type of guy that says; I can’t get shown up. I just try to limit these opportunities. So, I’m not going to try to make it 1-on-1 between Allen Iverson and myself. You never know, if we play 1-on-1 again, I think he could beat me on the perimeter, but I could take him on the post,” Jordan said.

Nearly 20 years after the epic NBA moment, Iverson revealed that Jordan still remembers how the said crossover contributed to their relationship.

According to the former Sixers star, Jordan scolded him about the move at a Charlotte game in 2017 and said that Iverson wouldn’t have looked up to him if he hadn’t crossed him up.

“I live in Charlotte, so I went to a Charlotte game,” Iverson told ESPN.

“(Jordan) was in the back, so we was talking and I was telling him how much I loved him and admired him, and telling him how much he was my hero, and he was like, ‘Well I couldn’t have been a hero to you if you crossed me like that',” he continued.
