KEY POINTS

  • Steph Curry cannot wait to face the streaking Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, November 30
  • The first-ever unanimous MVP is leading the league in points per game and free throw percentage
  • The Suns' Devin Booker was recently named the Western Conference Player of the Week for his outstanding performances

The Golden State Warriors are set for an epic showdown with a blazing hot Phoenix Suns team, and Steph Curry bared his thoughts on facing the reigning Western Conference champions.

Speaking to the media after their 15-point blowout victory over the Los Angeles Clippers this past Sunday, November 28, Curry had a lot to say about the Suns.

“It's a good measuring stick against a team that's won what is it 16, 15 games? Whatever it is. Who was in the Finals last year, and they have confidence in who they are, they have an identity of how to win games, so it's going to be a good test for us, and hopefully we're ready for it,” Curry remarked.

Both the Warriors and the Suns are off to a hot start to the season, with the former rising back to the top of the Western Conference, while the latter is on a 16-game win streak after starting the season with only one win and three losses.

The Suns have beaten teams that many counted them out in, most notably against the New York Knicks last November 26 and the Brooklyn Nets the following day.

The final score against the Nets fails to reflect just how dominant the Suns were during that game, even pushing their lead to 20 points prior to the fourth.

Kevin Durant led the Nets in scoring with 39 points, while James Harden put up a triple-double but was booed by the fans for putting up seven turnovers.

Two-time All-Star Devin Booker responded to Durant’s output with 30 points in just 32 minutes and was supported by Chris Paul’s 22 points to keep the streak alive.

As for the Warriors, they are riding a seven-game win streak to a record of 18 wins and two losses.

Early in the season, many claimed that their record reflected the relative weakness of the teams that they were facing but barely pulled out a win against the Los Angeles Lakers on opening night while falling to the Memphis Grizzlies just about a week later.

Curry and the Warriors silenced their doubters by blowing out the rising Chicago Bulls on November 12, with the first-ever unanimous MVP dropping 40 points on their heads.

Through 19 games, Curry is the league leader in points and free throw shooting percentage with 28.6 per game and shooting 94.2 percent from the line.

The Warriors' resurgence can be attributed to Curry reaching MVP-like numbers while having a bench that they can consistently rely on.

The same can be said about the Suns with Booker being named the Western Conference Player of the Week recently.

With the top spot of the Western Conference up for grabs between the two powerhouses, their matchup on Tuesday, November 30 is a surefire cannot-miss game for basketball fans.
