There is no clear sign on what lies ahead for Carmelo Anthony. After his stint with the Houston Rockets fell apart, the 34-year-old found himself in limbo with no NBA team clearly stepping forward to add him to their roster.

The latest on Anthony is that trade that sent him to the Chicago Bulls for the draft rights of Tadija Dragicevic. Part of the deal included an undisclosed amount of cash as well as the draft rights to Jon Diebler from the Houston Rockets. The deal was seen more like a dump for the Rockets to avoid luxury tax penalties, NBA.com reported. He is, however, expected to be waived by the Bulls by the Feb. 7 trade deadline.

Just recently, Anthony created quite a fuss when he showed up at Madison Square Garden in New York. He was in attendance but as a fan to watch Dwyane Wade and the Heat face the Knicks. When he was shown on the JumboTron, he was given a standing ovation by fans in attendance.

But his presence was purely out of support for his friend as it was a moment he would not dare miss.

"If it was one moment that I could come out and be here in this seat, it's to come see him finish it out here in the Garden," Anthony said in a report from ESPN.

Being back at MSG also brought back some memories for the 10-time NBA All-Star. He also bared that he still wanted to play in the NBA and just wanted to be happy with his next team, if he finds one.

“At this point, I just want to be happy,” Anthony said. “I think I’ve put myself in a good, peaceful mind state right now, [being] able to focus in on what I need to focus in on. And whatever’s going to make me happy, then we’re going to make it happen.”

So far, only one NBA team has been closely linked to Anthony, the Los Angeles Lakers. A big reason for that is LeBron James, but the Lakers made it clear that they may only consider the idea if a roster spot opens.

Los Angeles has no plans to create a roster spot as of this writing. The scenario could be different once Anthony is officially waived by the Bulls, particularly for teams who plan to ramp up their rosters for the NBA postseason wars.
