KEY POINTS

  • Warriors will search for a  star center
  • Warriors almost complete with new face starting unit
  • Dubs unlikely to get good talent from 2020 NBA Draft

The Golden State Warriors have added some players to the mix but critics feel that most are not the major player the Dubs are looking for. The core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green will still be it although Andrew Wiggins can now be included in the fray. Given those four players, Steve Kerr would likely want a center to complete a great looking starting five.

The NBA season saw Kerr giving some former top picks a chance to revive their NBA careers. Marquese Chriss left a good impression, a reason why he now holds a guaranteed contract. The other is Dragan Bender. After some anxious moments, he was given a second 10-day contract. From the looks of it, he may have left a good impression as well. However, his future with the Dubs still hangs in the balance.

Kevon Looney is still around but hardly made an impact this season due to an injury. But moving forward, it looks like he will remain a rotation player. The same goes for the other unfamiliar names, meaning they need to show that they belong in Dub City this summer. However, it still remains that Kerr will be prowling for a center this summer.

With the Dubs possibly owners to the rights of the first overall pick, the 2020 NBA Draft could be a source. Unfortunately, critics see it as a weak class although some overlooked players could fit in with Kerr's system. Hence, proper scouting and evaluation are needed before taking in that particular player, Yahoo Sports reported.

If not through the NBA Draft, free agents could be another option. Anthony Davis would be a great target but The Brow is more likely to stay in Hollywood. Andre Drummond could be worth looking into if he opts out of his deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Other players worth mentioning include Hassan Whiteside, Tristan Thompson or maybe even Dwight Howard. In short, the Warriors have options but the key part is fitting in.

The Dubs don't really need a center who dominates in scoring. They need someone that can contribute to scoring and focus on plugging that big hole in the middle. Kerr likely has someone in mind and the identity of that guy should be revealed in the offseason.
