There is no doubt that Kevin Durant made a name for himself when he started out his NBA career with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Everything turned sour when he opted to jump ship and join the Golden State Warriors in 2016.

Regardless, at least one person who played alongside the 30-year-old Durant believes that the two-time NBA champion deserves proper recognition for putting OKC on the map. Nick Collison, who recently saw his no. 4 jersey retired by the Thunder believes Durant deserves the same treatment as well, NBC Sports reported.

"It’s their decision to make, but I would certainly think so. He’s meant a ton to Thunder basketball and spent a huge majority of his career here. A lot of these honors are just kind of what the team decides to do, and I think players are appreciative of them," said Collison to ESPN.

Of course, Durant still has plenty of years ahead of him in the NBA. Although he is with the Dubs, there is no telling what lies ahead for the two-time NBA Finals MVP. He is one of the top prospects this coming free agency with the New York Knicks believed to be a potential landing spot.

However, the Warriors are likely to try and keep him in the fray as they do the necessary adjustments to maintain their core. There have been petty instances throughout the 2018-19 NBA season where Durant had verbal tussles with players like Draymond Green. But then again, the same has been happening in the past years. And as most can see, KD is still in Golden State.

This is not to say that the Dubs will give up and let Durant walk. There will be a pitch forthcoming. But at the end of the day, it all depends on Durant. Is he happy being a Warrior? Has he had enough NBA titles tucked under his belt?

Either way, Durant is a future NBA Hall of Famer. His number will be retired eventually by the Thunder and of course the Warriors. These are two teams where he played the majority of his career - both of which are memorable and worth looking back to. Things may not be smooth now, but it is expected to simmer down in the coming years.
