Kobe Bryant and Jeremy Lin

Jeremy Lin continues to pick up the pieces after dealing with injuries the past NBA seasons. It was not always like that for the 30-year-old guard who drew attention back in the 2011-2012 NBA season when he was still with the New York Knicks.

Considering it was the time where Linsanity was a hit, it would be hard to miss out on who Jeremy Lin was. But there were several players who hardly cared and one was Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers.

This happened six years ago when the Lakers visited the Knicks in New York. Bryant was asked about Lin who was on the rise. The Black Mamba said he did not know who Lin was to media although the statement may have been a harmless and sincere response by Bryant to reporters.

“So… he definitely should have known who I was. If anything, I stand out when I get onto the court… I don’t look like anybody else,” Lin said on a recent episode of "Inside the Green Room with Danny Green."

Regardless, Lin heard about it and could not believe Bryant would be that ignorant not to know who he was at the time. Assuming that Kobe really had no clue, the American-Asian showed it on the floor.

Lin outscored Bryant that night, dropping in 38 points on 56.5-percent shooting from the field and leading the Knicks to a 92-85 win over the Lakers, Yahoo Sports reported. Kobe didn't have a bad night either. He dropped 34 points for Los Angeles in that loss at the Big Apple.

Lin and Bryant would eventually become teammates a couple of years later. Lin first jumped to the Houston Rockets 2012 before getting traded to the Lakers in 2014. Despite the rapport he built while playing with the Knicks, he struggled to sustain his level of play.

Playing with Bryant and the Lakers didn't really pan out for Lin and he would move on to other teams. Other stops included the Charlotte Hornets, Brooklyn Nets, Atlanta Hawks and now the Toronto Raptors.

With the Raptors, his duty is to come off the bench and lead the second unit. The move was seen as brilliant for Lin who will be able to play in the postseason wars.

Ironically, it was against the Raptors back on Feb. 10, 2012, where he hit a ridiculous game-winning three-pointer for the Knicks. Now, Toronto is hoping he can provide a shot in the arm -- seven years later.
