The Cleveland Cavaliers are in rebuild mode with most of their stars gone. Kyrie Irving has left and is now with the Boston Celtics, while LeBron James is with the Los Angeles Lakers. Kevin Love is the lone star standing but he too may be on his way out.

The Cavs surprised plenty of people when they re-signed Love to a four-year $120 million extension back in July. Initially, that move seemed to hint that the all-star forward would be the next face of the franchise. But looking at the personnel changes happening, it seems that this may not be the case. In fact, the 30-year-old could be moving as well soon if Cleveland receives an offer they cannot refuse, the Bleacher Report suggested.

Reports have it that several Cavs front-office personnel are making Love available for the right price, the New York Times reported. Aware of what a Kevin Love can do, several teams are likely to inquire about him moving forward. But one tea who could make a run at 6-foot-10 center/ forward would be the Denver Nuggets – a team that has expressed fondness on Love for some time now.

Hence, the celebrated contract extension may be nothing more than insurance for the Cavs. It could be used to tempt teams into making offers, using up and coming players or even future draft picks who could fit in with their future plans.

As for Love interest in him will need careful deliberation. His injuries leave a lot to be desired and he does carry a hefty contract to boot until the 2022-23 season. A buyout could happen somewhere along the way, either with the Cavs or any team that gambles on him. Any move involving the five-time NBA all-star can only commence after Jan. 24 based on the contract extension he signed.

Although nothing is imminent, Love could also be another player on the move before the Feb. 7 trade deadline. No team has come forward right now although that can change in the coming weeks if the Cavs aggressively make it known that Love is available for trade.

If nothing happens after Feb. 7, such is not expected to douse water on potential Kevin Love trade talks. It can carry over to the summer where the Cavs are expected to be busy trying to pick up the pieces. Love may or may not be included in those plans – the final say of which will be at the hands of Cavs management.
