KEY POINTS

  • Daniels could rejoin Rockets
  • Dubs could use 10-day deal on Daniels
  • Sixers could put Daniels outside sniping to good use

Troy Daniels is without a team again although he is expected to be looked into by some NBA teams. His three-point shooting has improved through the years and this could be his ticket to joining another team. Ironically, one landing spot is the same team that gave him a chance back in 2014.

Daniels found himself without a team when the Los Angeles Lakers decided to waive him recently. The 28-year-old never really got to blend in with the Lakers since the team had multiple shooting guards in the mix. For the 2019-20 season, Daniels played in 41 games and averaged 4.2 points and 1.1 rebounds per Basketball-Reference.com. He was 47.8 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from beyond the arc.

The thing about Daniels is he is hardly someone teams would use as a starter. But then again, he could develop into one if he gets the right amount of playing time, Fansided reported. The Rockets could be that team although he would be playing behind James Harden. If that were the case, Daniels may not get the proper playing time, probably end up on the bench most of the time as well.

If not the Rockets, several teams are in need of someone who is not afraid to shoot. The Philadelphia 76ers is one team that has yet to land a shooter and Daniels could be a plausible option. Also, the Sixers are severely undermanned right now. It will be interesting if Brett Brown considers the undrafted player of the 2013 NBA Draft.

The New Orleans Pelicans could also use someone to pinch-hit for JJ Reddick. The 35-year-old guard is dealing with a hamstring injury and will be out for two weeks, NBA.com reported. With the Pelicans ambitiously aiming for a playoff berth, checking out the 6-foot-4 shooting guard.

Another team that could make sense would be the Golden State Warriors. The Dubs are looking at players who would be amenable to a 10-day deal and Daniels could make sense. If no playoff-bound team takes him in, it could be the best recourse for Daniels if he intends to play on this NBA season.
