KEY POINTS

  • Mo Salah has now scored in 7 straight matches for Liverpool
  • He has netted 9 goals in as many games for the Reds this season
  • He is contracted with Liverpool until 2023

NBA superstar LeBron James was among the first ones to react to Mo Salah’s incredible strike during Liverpool FC’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday.

Salah scored Liverpool’s second goal after Sadio Mane opened the scoring of the match at Anfield. Even though goals from Phil Foden and Kevin de Bruyne denied Liverpool a win, the Reds were more than happy to earn a crucial point in their latest Premier League meeting with the reigning champions.

"Mo Salah is just absolutely unbelievable at football," tweeted Liverpool after Salah dribbled through Manchester City’s defense to strike a difficult weak-footed shot past Ederson.

Reacting to that tweet, the Los Angeles Lakers star gave a three-word response.

"Yes, he is," wrote LeBron James on his official Twitter account.

James is one of Liverpool’s investors. King James received 2% of Liverpool Football Club in 2011 for roughly $6.5 million. Since then, Liverpool, under the management of Jurgen Klopp, have won the Champions League and the Premier League and James’ stake is understood to now be valued at almost $44M, according to sports media outlet The Sports Rush.

A big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, James also admires several other soccer players, including his Liverpool stars.

Salah, who has scored nine goals in as many games, has now netted a goal in seven consecutive matches for the Reds, with the streak starting at home in a Premier League match against Chelsea. The Egyptian King has also equaled his longest scoring streak for the Anfield side.

The 29-year-old Egypt national has been one of Klopp's best buys. Salah is contracted with Liverpool until 2023 and has a current market value of around $112 million, according to Transfermarkt.

With four wins and three draws, Liverpool are placed second in the 2021-22 Premier League table. They have 15 points, one less than leaders Chelsea.
