The Los Angeles Clippers are nearing a deal Sunday that will send forward Sam Dekker to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The trade was reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Sources told Wojnarowski that the Clippers could receive cash or future considerations, but not a player. The Clippers appear to be interested in opening up a roster spot.

The Houston Rockets drafted Dekker in the first round of the 2015 draft. He was traded to the Clippers last summer as part of the Chris Paul trade.

Dekker, 24, averaged 4.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 12.1 minutes per game in 2017-18. He only played in three games in his rookie season, but averaged 6.5 points and 3.7 rebounds in 18.4 minutes in 2016-17.

In other news, star big man Hassan Whiteside told reporters Saturday that he met last month with Miami Heat team president Pat Riley and head coach Erik Spoelstra after rumors surfaced that the 29-year-old may not be part of the team's plans.

"We had a great talk," Whiteside said in a conference call. "I just think it's trust on both sides. I think that's the biggest thing ... It was about a four-hour meeting. It was a lot about life. It was two hours basketball, two hours life. It was a good meeting."

Riley recently denied reports that the Heat were considering dealing Whiteside, who has two seasons left on his four-year, $98.4 million deal.

Whiteside played in 54 games last season after suffering knee and hip problems. He averaged 14 points and 11.4 rebounds in 25.3 minutes per game.
