  • The Miami Heat reportedly have their eye on Kyle Lowry to form a new Big Three in South Beach
  • Lowry continues to shoot down NBA trade rumors suggesting he will leave the Raptors
  • Lowry is on an expiring deal, fuelling rumors of an impending exit

NBA pundits expect the Miami Heat to pull off something before the March 25 trade deadline, and there are a lot of players to name.

Team president Pat Riley is slowly but surely trying to come up with a Big Three of his own, and the South Beach squad could be one player away from doing that. Could Kyle Lowry be worth getting?

Though a trade involving the 34-year-old guard has been often suggested, nothing has come to fruition. But the fact that he is on an expiring contract has included Lowry in NBA trade talks even with the strong disapproval of Toronto Raptors followers.

Lowry has already tried to shoot down the “lies from media” via Instagram. Like most players, it comes as no surprise that the six-time NBA All-Star is trying to fend off rumors.

But as most NBA critics know, anything can happen, especially if a player is nearing a contract expiration. A new deal could easily negate that, but nothing close to that has come.

Until that time comes, expect speculations to continue what lies ahead for players like Lowry. One team that could make sense is the Heat, an organization oozing with young players who are not getting the ample playing minutes to shine.

Hence, a suggested trade involving Kendrick Nunn, Goran Dragic and Kelly Olynyk could make sense.

Of those names, the name of Nunn could be of interest to Raptors head coach Nick Nurse. Injecting youth is the plausible direction for the former NBA champions, something that could be equally beneficial for the 25-year-old.

Nunn is averaging 14 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 29.8 minutes per game. But the fact that he needs to share duties with Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson somehow poses as a stumbling block to unleash his full potential.

Dragic and Olynyk could also be of use although the former is on limited time. At 34, most see "The Dragon" in the home stretch of his career. However, he continues to show the fire that could hang with the big guns of the league.

Olynyk could be the bruiser that Nurse needs to beef up its frontcourt. His numbers continue to be good, but playing for another team could be the X-factor that Toronto needs.

As for Lowry, possibly pairing him with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo could make sense. His leadership and production are unquestionable although his durability is in question.

It could be an ideal short-term fix for the Heat, not to mention something that could help Herro, Robinson and some of the other guys improve their craft.
