The February 6 trade deadline is only days away and teams are looking for possible deals to improve their squad. Teams fighting for a playoff contention are currently gunning for a pivotal deal that can cement their post-season berth.

And there are some teams who just need to shake up their roster to help set the right path for a rebuild. The New York Knicks are one of those teams as they continue to struggle in the team standings. They currently sit at 13th place in the Eastern Conference with a 14-36 win-loss record.

Marcus Morris and Julius Randle are the team’s leading scorers with 19.4 and 18.9 points respectively. Although they have a potential future with rookie RJ Barrett, the teams still struggle as a whole.

There hasn’t been an All-Star for the Knicks ever since they moved on with Kristaps Porzingis. With speculation across the league, they might be able to get one soon. Sources have speculated that the New York Knicks emerged as a suitor for Golden State Warriors guard D’Angelo Russell. The Knicks could use the services of the former All-Star as he provides the offensive boost their team needs. Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reported that Frank Ntilikina and Bobby Portis are included in the mix.

The Golden State Warriors are currently in talks with different teams for their All-Star guard. The New York Knicks will have to compete with the Minnesota Timberwolves as they have also shown interest in the left-handed shooter. The Timberwolves have been eyeing D’Angelo Russell with the possibility of him teaming up with Karl-Anthony Towns. The two have a strong bond with one another, being cited before as best friends.

D’Angelo Russell was selected in his first All-Star selection last year when he was a member of the Brooklyn Nets. This season he is averaging 23.8 points per game to come along with 6.3 assists per game. His scoring average is the best he’s put up in his career and he’s looking to maintain his scoring hot streak.
