KEY POINTS

  • Cole Anthony was left bloodied in their game last Saturday after receiving an elbow
  • His team lost both games on final possessions
  • Fans on Twitter are talking about his headband, saying it was too low

The game between the University of North Carolina Tar Heels and Virginia Cavaliers was halted halfway the second half when Tar Heel guard Cole Anthony hit the floor off a rebound play. The 19-year old NBA prospect battled for the rebounds and was left bloodied after taking an elbow from Cavaliers center Francisco Caffaro.

Per 247Sports, the 7-foot big man from Argentina hit Anthony on the eyebrow area and the collision left the point guard motionless on the floor. Anthony was caught by the cameras venting out his frustrations by asking why he’s always on the bad end of a physical play. “Why am I always getting hurt? F---!” he said.

Anthony still continued to play and finished with 17 points, five assists, and three rebounds in 35 minutes but it was still not enough as the Cavaliers won the game, 64-62. Down by one-point with over 10 seconds remaining, Tomas Woldetensae converted a three-pointer with just 0.3 seconds left. The Italian sharpshooter scored 18 points – all coming from the three-point territory – including the winning basket.

Looking to bounce back from their nail-biting loss, the team again lost a close one. Nate Laszewski found himself open and hit the three-pointer with only 1.8 seconds left to lift Notre Dame, 77-76 after themselves down by five with 1:43 remaining.

Anthony finished with 23 points, six assists, and three rebounds but air-balled his three-point attempt that could have sealed the game and snap their five-game losing skid.

But instead of talking about what went right and what went wrong, fans kept an eye on Anthony’s headband which was, according to them, appears to be too close to his eyes.

While some are making fun of it, some took time to explain the logical reason behind Anthony wearing the headband that low – which is to somehow cover the scars that he got during their previous game.
