"NCIS" Season 18 has been off-air for weeks. CBS's long-running police procedural show has been delayed and will not be going on-air until next week. However, when the show returns, fans will not be disappointed.

While "NCIS" spinoffs "NCIS: Los Angeles" and "NCIS: New Orleans" have already returned to television after the festival hiatus, the original series remain off-air. After facing many delays due to the holiday season and COVID-19 restrictions, the show will mark its return with a two-hour midseason premiere, featuring Episodes 4 and 5 back-to-back, next week.

Directed by series star Rocky Carroll, who plays the role of Leon Vance, Episode 4 is titled "Sunburn." In this episode, McGee (Sean Murray) and his wife Delilah (Margo Harshman) take an exotic trip to the Bahamas. Things take an unexpected turn when it becomes a "high-stakes" mission. McGee is forced to take upon a murder mystery of a dead manager who is associated with the island they are vacationing on.

This episode also sheds some light on the progress of Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Fornell's (Joe Spano) drug trafficking case involving Fornell's daughter. As per the synopsis, things are not looking good for Fornell who seems to have gone missing while on the trail. While searching for his friend, he makes a shocking discovery that makes him imagine the worst outcome.

"McGee and his wife Delilah's (Margo Harshman) Bahamian vacation turns into a high-stakes mission when a case NCIS is tracking of a dead escape room manager has ties to the island. Also, Gibbs fears the worst when his search for Fornell leads to blood," reads the official synopsis for Episode 4.

After this comes Episode 5, which is titled "Head of the Snake." It highlights the conclusion of Gibbs and Fornell's case to find the head of the drug ring. Also, Gibbs and Vance unveil details about a dangerous case.

"Gibbs and Fornell's crusade to find the head of the drug ring responsible for Fornell's daughter Emily's overdose comes to a climax. Also, Gibbs and Vance finally let the team in on a case that has dangerous implications," reads the official synopsis for Episode 5.

As per the network's current schedule, "NCIS" Season 18 Episodes 4 and 5 air on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
