The "South Park" franchise has been in the industry for more than a couple of decades and it appears that the animated comedy series creators are preparing another surprise for fans in the form of a new 3D game, which is reportedly in active development.

Bloomberg reported Thursday that "South Park" series creators Matt Stone and trey Parker have struck a new deal worth $900 million with ViacomCBS which would see six new seasons and 14 individual movies based on the iconic series.

The report also revealed that as part of the deal, Stone and Parker will "use that money to invest in a wide range of creative endeavors, including a documentary series, a weed company, and a 3D video game that is set in the world of “South Park.”

Not many details were revealed about the video game project with the report only saying that it would be a 3D video game. Although the information is scarce, it is safe to say that the title will not be a mobile spin-off but much of a AAA variety.

On Thursday, Bloomberg reporter and industry insider Jason Schreier brought up on Twitter the question of who will publish the supposed 3D "South Park" game. He said, "Looks like the South Park people are working on a new video game. The last two were published by Ubisoft - not clear who's making this one."

"South Park" video games have been around ever since the show debuted. The games were critically panned until the release of "South Park: Stick of the Truth" in 2014.

The game, which was released in 2014, earned praises from both fans and critics. It was developed by Obsidian Entertainment in collaboration with South Park Digital Studios.

The game's sequel titled "South Park: The Fractured but Whole" was launched in 2017. At that time, South Park Digital Studios worked with Ubisoft's internal game development studios. The latest report from Bloomberg is the first confirmation that a new 3D "South Park" game is in active development.

While there is no information available as to the game's publisher, it is safe to say that South Park Digital Studios might be involved again in its development.
