Roku fans may have something to look forward to in 2019, as the company has announced that is will be adding Premium Subscriptions to its platform in late January. The new subscription service will continue to offer more than 10,000 ad-free movies and TV shows as well as the option to add channels such as Showtime, Starz, and EPIX.

With the Premium Subscriptions feature, Roku users will have the ability to browse content before signing up as well as undergo a free trial before making a decision to pay for the service. Roku said the Premium Subscription will provide free, live, and premium content in one channel, making it easier for users to search and watch their favorite programs.

Plus, users of the Roku mobile app can watch content from the channel without support from a Roku device. The option will allow users to watch streaming content on their phone, and then pick up where they left off on their Roku player or Roku TV.

According to Roku, the Premium Subscription partners to date include: Showtime, Starz, EPIX, Baeble Music, CollegeHumor’s DROPOUT, CuriosityStream, FitFusion, The Great Courses Signature Collection, Hopster, Magnolia Selects presented by Magnolia Pictures, MHz Choice, NOGGIN, Smithsonian Channel Plus, Tastemade, Viewster Anime, and more.

Roku said it will begin rolling out the Premium Subscription service later this month to select devices with full availability on all supported devices by early 2019. A Roku app update will also be made available soon, the company said.
