Samsung may have added a new AI smart speaker at the Federal Communications Comission. This new device will follow the Galaxy Home series, though the company has yet to ship the first device of this series. Here’s what we know about this new Samsung device.

According to The Verge, the FCC got a new filing from Samsung about the company’s new “AI speaker” device. The new device has a smaller frame compared to the Galaxy Home and has no legs. It’s also shaped similar to a cauldron, and may run with the Bixby assistant app.

As of now, official information about this smaller Galaxy Home speaker is scant. The company has yet to release the first Galaxy Home speaker and plans to release it on the first half of 2019. Since its already nearing June, the Galaxy Home speaker would be released soon. However, Samsung has yet to release any pricing details about the first Galaxy Home speaker.

Due to the next speaker’s smaller size, it’s expected to be cheaper than this one too. The Echo Dot and Google Home Mini costs around $50. Samsung would want to have this second device to be priced near their rivals to gain the upper hand against them.

In other news, Samsung’s Galaxy Fold series is currently having some major issues due to its reviews. While reviewers loved the new innovative device, it easily broke after a few days of use for some reviewers. Samsung also cancelled a reveal event for the Fold just after the bad reviews came out. Potentially, Samsung’s ventures outside the smartphones can help it recover from that issue.

Potentially, Samsung could be invested in the smart speaker industry as it already has two products lined up for release. After the first Galaxy Home’s release this 2019, the smaller speaker would follow soon after. If the first one does well for the Samsung’s customers, the consumers may just be willing to buy the smaller and cheaper version for it as its owners vouch for its quality.

For now, we’ll have to wait for more information about these new speakers from Samsung.
