Sony’s Xperia Z5 lineup saw a delayed launch in the U.S. This series can only be purchased as international variants without any warranty from e-retailers like Amazon and eBay. Even though the year 2015 has been quite uneventful for Sony with regard to smartphones, it looks like the company is gearing up to play catch up in 2016. Recently, it’s reported that Sony is working on the Z6 series. Following which, we now have information on what sounds like a mid-ranger dubbed “Sony Xperia Z6 Lite.”

Past rumors pointed out that, the Japanese conglomerate will release five models of the Xperia Z6 lineup. This includes a flagship with 5.2-inch display, a petite device called Xperia Z6 Mini with 4-inch display, a 4.6-inch screen clad Xperia Z6 Compact, a 5.8-inch Xperia Z6 Plus and a 6.4-inch display clad Xperia Z6 Ultra. Meanwhile, GSM Arena said that a leaked roadmap pertaining to T-Mobile revealed that there’s no Xperia Z6 Mini -- after all we have the usual Z6 Compact lined up.

With the number coming down to four, two of the aforementioned devices are reported to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 processor, while one of the above will apparently utilize the Snapdragon 652 SoC (also known as Snapdragon 620).

Now, the credible Chinese source Mobile Dad said that a new device named Sony Xperia Z6 Lite will join the Z6 lineup. As far as the specifications go, this handset will feature a 5.0-inch display. It is believed to come powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chipset (previously known as Snapdragon 618).

Speaking of price and release date, the Xperia Z6 Lite will reportedly set the buyers back by $385 and will be released sometime in May 2016.

As always, readers are advised to take the reported Z6 Lite-related information with the proverbial pinch of salt as Sony has not confirmed any details so far.
