A television morning anchor for WFLA in Tampa, Florida, was arrested over the weekend after allegedly assaulting a woman who is six months pregnant.

According to police, Marco Aurelio Villareal, 37, who worked for the station since December 2016, was charged after the expecting mother complained to police about the alleged domestic altercation.

A police report reveals Villareal tried to kiss the woman while she was trying to make dinner and she refused his advances, which made him angry, according to the Tampa Bay Times. When she walked away, he allegedly slammed her against a wall.

After the arrest, WFLA said in a statement on its website that "Villareal will not be returning to our newscast until an investigation of the charges has concluded." They added, "WFLA will have no additional comment at this time."

On Sunday, Villareal was arrested by police at his home and refused to complete a written statement about the alleged altercation, though the woman did so with the officers. The police also obtained statements from two children who were at the home at the time of the incident. While the woman had no visible injuries and declined medical treatment she was said to be "very upset."

Villareal was charged with one count of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman and released after posting a $7,500 bond, reports the NY Post. He has declined to comment on the matter and has deactivated his Facebook page.
