  • The Chargers selected Kenneth Murray as the 23rd overall pick of the NFL draft
  • Murray was able to predict on social media about this moment three years ago

The NFL Draft once again provided the drama and excitement for any football fan. For the Los Angeles Chargers’ first-round pick Kenneth Murray, he was able to predict how his NFL career would kick-off.

The linebacker out of Oklahoma tweeted three years ago that he would be selected in the NFL in the first round of the draft.

“3 years from now I will be a 1st round draft pick as a OLB....JUST WAIT,” Murray tweeted.

From there Murray was able to come up with an illustrious career in college. The 21-year-old displayed a tremendous performance as a member of the Oklahoma Sooners football program. It was three quality years for Murray and Oklahoma as he was able to rack up several accomplishments during his stay in college.

The six-foot-two Murray was named co-Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2017 as a dependable linebacker. He would then proceed to become a first-team All-Big 12 in his junior year before he eventually declared for the NFL draft.

This year’s draft had its share of drama considering the global pandemic that has affected the entire world. In addition to this, there have been major roster developments across the league that has shaken up the NFL.

One prominent move involves the New England Patriots setting foot in a different direction towards a new era. The transfer of Tom Brady to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signaled a new chapter for the franchise that resulted in a busy draft day. The Patriots traded away their 23rd selection for the Chargers’ 37th and 71st picks.

With this deal, Murray will suit up for the Chargers and will join this year’s sixth overall pick Justin Herbert on the field. The quarterback selection of Herbert is expected to be a major piece in the Chargers’ rebuilding phase.

Having the likes of Murray who are excited to suit up for any football team can add to the energy of the Chargers. The All-American let out an enthusiastic tweet to follow up on his prediction back in 2017.

“I did it!!!!! #CHARGERS,” his quote tweet said.

With the Chargers ending their 2019 campaign with a 5-11 record, the franchise is now looking to recover with the new talent that they’ve hauled over this year’s draft.
