Baker Mayfield may have played his final game for the Cleveland Browns. The latest rumors suggest that he could be traded before the start of the 2022 season.

Mayfield has been at odds with Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski's play calling, according to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot. The conflict could mean that the former No. 1 draft pick seeks to move on from the Browns, who made gains last season with their first playoff appearance after a long drought.

Part of Cleveland’s disappointing season has been subpar production from Mayfield. The fourth-year quarterback enters the final week of the regular season with the 27th-best passer rating and tied for 20th in passing touchdowns. Twenty-seven starters have a better completion percentage than Mayfield.

Mayfield has denied the report.

The Browns might look to move Mayfield, even if he doesn’t ask to be dealt. The 26-year-old only has one year left on his contract and is expected to seek a nine-figure extension.

Cleveland and Mayfield have reportedly not come close to agreeing on a new deal.

Injuries contributed to Mayfield’s 2021 stat line of 3,010 yards, 17 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and an 83.1 passer rating. He has been hurt for most of the season, dealing with a torn labrum and a fracture in his left shoulder.

Ruled out for Week 18 with surgery looming, Mayfield missed one game because of the injuries. He missed another start with COVID-19.

In the 2020 season, Mayfield posted career highs with a 95.9 passer rating and a 26:8 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Mayfield had 16 touchdowns and two interceptions in the season’s final 10 games.

Mayfield has a 29-30 record with 92 touchdown passes and 56 interceptions in his NFL career.
