After two years of missing the NFL playoffs, the consensus is that the Denver Broncos are more than likely to fire head coach Vance Joseph. Much of this is expected to plague the headlines moving forward with several names likely to be mentioned as his replacement.

According to Pro Football Talk, the Broncos are expected to dismiss Joseph unless general manager John Elway finds a reason not to. The 46-year-old signed a four-year deal to take over from Gary Kubiak, who retired after the 2016 season.

With big shoes to fill, Joseph has not been able to get much headway. The Broncos managed to finish with a 5-11 win-loss record and are currently holding a 6-8 record. Denver lost to the Cleveland Browns last week, officially eliminating them from contention for the second consecutive year.

Joseph said that he is not worried about his job right now and is more focused on their games ahead. That includes a Week 16 clash with the Oakland Raiders, a team they will face on Christmas Eve.

"My concern is this football team, these coaches, and you know we have a big game on Monday night," Vance told reporters via CBS Sports. "That's my only concern. What's written, what's being said, I can't worry about that."

Even with the season lost, it will be interesting to know what is going on in the mind of the sophomore NFL coach. While most expected him to learn from his rookie year coaching mistakes, there were plenty of questions raised about his coaching decisions against the Indians. That included sending out his kicker rather than going for it on 4th-and-1 from the Cleveland 6.

With so much turmoil going around in Denver, it hardly comes as a surprise that some players are left disgruntled. That includes safety Su'a Cravens, who was deactivated despite playing at their best.

“I’m not going to speak bad on the dude,” Cravens said. “He’s my coach. He’s my superior. I’m going to do whatever he says. But as far as him saying he’s got the best players out on the field, I disagree.”

There is also growing belief that Elway has had meetings with legendary coach Mike Shanahan. A deal was anticipated to be struck this month, but all that bogged down when CEO Joe Ellis stepped in to nix the plan, according to the Bleacher Report.

But with revived rumors on Joseph's likely exit, expect Shanahan to be mentioned once more as a potential replacement. For now, the Broncos close out the regular season on Dec. 30 when they take on the Los Angeles Chargers, before the mayhem is likely to erupt over in Denver.
