KEY POINTS

  • Dolphins working on ways to get no. 1 pick in NFL Draft
  • Dolphins want to get Joe Burrow
  • Miami needs to make huge offer for Cincinnati to agree to a trade

The NFL holds a precarious future, meaning its calendar is likely to be moved. While that could be a bummer for most, it could buy the Miami Dolphins some time in planning their moves. One of the big ones expected from the team is how to get their hands on Joe Burrow. The Heisman Trophy winner is the hands-down choice to be selected by the Cincinnati Bengals. The Dolphins are picking at no. 5 but the word going around is that Miami will try to pull some strings.

According to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins are going to try something to grab the no. 1 spot. Right now, that remains unknown although it may take a lot to get it done. The belief is that with Burrow likely headed to the Bengals, the Dolphins will have to settle for Tua Tagovailoa. However, the fact that the American-Samoan is coming off surgery has raised questions n whether he can be durable enough to survive in the NFL.

Speaking of Tagovailoa, it seemed that things did not go too well when he sat down with the Dolphins. In a previous post, the 21-year-old shared how the meeting ended a bit strange with no energy and excitement in the air. And from the looks of it, a fair conclusion is that the Dolphins are not entirely sold to the idea of drafting the Tagovailoa.

Another option was Justin Herbert but it appears critics are questioning his self-confidence. He seemed pretty uncertain at what he brings to the NFL, a big no-no per critics. Hence, it makes a bit of sense why the Dolphins would try to push heaven and earth to try and get to the no. 1 spot. If they fail to get that privilege, Miami could still approach the Bengals and talk about a potential deal. This is expected to go on until the NFL officially opens its 2020-21 season.

Despite the COVID-19 crisis, the NFL still plans to go ahead with the NFL Draft as scheduled, Yahoo Sports reported. The only problem is the scouting made on them could fall short. Visits have been canceled for now so most of the talks have now been limited through other means. One team likely doing that right now is Miami with their pursuit of Burrow is far from over.
