  • Watson unhappy with Texans recent moves
  • Patriots should consider trade for Watson
  • Watson fits Pats' youth movement following Brady departure

The New England Patriots have hardly made any major moves to address their quarterback problem. They did re-sign an old face in Brian Hoyer although he hardly qualifies as starting quarterback material. And while some critics feel that the Pats will not dip their hands and take in a top free-agent quarterback, New England could be doing it via another route.

One of the seemingly disgruntled play-callers in the NFL today is Deshaun Watson of the Houston Texans. The 24-year-old quarterback put up a curios tweet recently, somehow venting out some frustrations on his team's moves. Houston's star receiver DeAndre Hopkins was traded to the Arizona Cardinals and then sent Stefon Diggs to the Minnesota Vikings, CBS Sports reported.

The moves somehow broke some chemistry from within, particularly Watson's team-up with Hopkins. Though he mentioned no names, most felt it was obvious that the two-time Pro Bowler was referring to the weird NFL trades that the Texans pulled.

"I don't know how I’ma make it out of here clean. can’t even keep track of who plays for the other team.. iconic duos rip and split at the seams," Watson tweeted.

Looking ahead, it will be interesting if this disappointment will go away. Watson is still under contract with Houston for the next two years and it may take much to see him involved in a trade. At 24, there is no question that he has a bright NFL future ahead. But if he is placed on the block, he could be a fit to the Patriots.

The Patriots are speculated to be embarking on a youth movement with a focus on their young quarterbacks - Jarret Stidham and Cody Kessler. Stidham is forecasted to be the new starting QB for Bill Belichick unless the Pats pull off something and get a better quarterback in the fold.

With the progress he has made, most feel that Watson could be the ideal replacement for Tom Brady. Some are still sore at the 42-year-old abandoning the team although it could be for the best. The fact remains that the former Super Bowl MVP finished last NFL season on a sour note. Further, it may only be a matter of time before he too could be ineffective.

Watson is an interesting prospect if the Texans are willing to deal him off. The Patriots may want to consider him, especially if they want to remain competitive while in rebuilding mode.
