The Sunday afternoon slate in Week 9 of the 2021 NFL season could feature a bunch of low-scoring games. None of the 11 contests have a betting total north of 50. Multiple teams are dealing with injuries to starting quarterbacks, leaving their playing status in doubt.

Here are the five best over/under bets for Week 9. Betting odds come from FanDuel Sportsbook.

Houston Texans at Miami Dolphins Over 46

In a matchup between the AFC’s worst teams, this could actually turn into a fun, high-scoring game. Miami ranks last in total defense. Houston is second-to-last in points allowed and has surrendered at least 31 points in three straight games. During their seven-game losing streak, the Dolphins have given up at least 23 points in each contest. Tyrod Taylor led the Texans to 37 points in Week 1 and is likely to return as Houston’s starting quarterback.

Las Vegas Raiders at New York Giants Under 46

Henry Ruggs’ DUI arrest and subsequent release means the Raiders will be without their leading receiver. The Giants’ defense appears to be rounding into form after a rough start, allowing 23 total points in the last two games. New York has scored more than 21 points in regulation just once this season. Las Vegas’ strength is its pass rush, and it’ll take advantage of a poor Giants’ offensive line.

New England Patriots at Carolina Panthers Under 41

A below-average Panthers’ offense is about to have one of its worst games of the season. Sam Darnold has four passing touchdowns and seven interceptions in his last six games. If the quarterback can’t start because of a concussion, he’ll be replaced by P.J. Walker, who has one touchdown and five picks in his brief NFL career. Excluding their matchup with Dallas’ top-ranked offense, Carolina is giving up 16.7 points per game.

Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals Under 47

Cleveland’s offense has fallen apart in light of injuries to Baker Mayfield and the offensive line, scoring 17 points or fewer in four of the last five games. The Browns’ defense has stepped up, ranking third in opponents’ yards per play and yards allowed. The Bengals are eighth in opponents’ yards per play and have only allowed more than 25 points once.

Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers Under 45.5

If Kyler Murray’s ankle injury keeps him off the field, Arizona’s offense is in trouble. Even with Murray under center, the Cardinals have been limited to 29 points in their last two games with the 49ers. Arizona beat San Francisco 17-10 in Week 5, marking the third straight matchup between the NFC West rivals in which they totaled fewer than 45 points. Both teams rank in the top-seven in opponents’ yards per play.
