Nina Dobrev booked her first movie since leaving “The Vampire Diaries.” The actress will appear in “Arrivals,” a coming of age film that is set to shoot in South Africa this winter.

Deadline reports that “Arrivals” will focus on Calvin (Asa Butterfield), a college dropout who works as a baggage claim handler in Cape Town. The hypochondriac will fall for Dobrev’s character, Izzy, an American flight attendant.

Dobrev and Butterfield will be joined by another famous face: “Game of Thrones” star Maisie Williams. The actress, who will guest star on “Doctor Who” this season, will play Skye, a teenager who brings Calvin along to help her complete the tasks on her bucket list.

“Arrivals” joins several other indie films on Dobrev’s resume, including “Perks of Being a Wallflower” and “Final Girls,” which hits theaters Oct. 9. Of course, this time, she won’t need to worry about balancing her film schedule with “The Vampire Diaries.” Dobrev’s character Elena was written out in the Season 6 finale. Elena is cursed to be in a coma as long as her best friend Bonnie (Kat Graham) is alive.

The actress is returning to the big screen after taking a needed break. “I had a very scheduled, regimented life,” she told People in May after she left the CW drama. “And I’ve just been taking the whole month to not plan anything and see where life takes me and chill for a second before getting back into it and getting superfocused again.”

Dobrev has clearly ended her vacation, but she will still watch “The Vampire Diaries” as she moves on to new projects. The "Degrassi" alum recently confirmed that she will not appear in Season 7, but noted that she’d still support her former cast mates. “I can’t wait to see what the new season will look like,” Dobrev told Entertainment Weekly. “I’ll be watching. I’m very excited for my friends.”

“Arrivals” does not have a release date yet. It will be directed by Peter Hutchings and produced by BCDF Pictures and Kalahari Films & Media.
