Nintendo released a sneak peek movie poster for "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" on Tuesday along with announcing the trailer release date.

The trailer will be broadcasted through a Nintendo Direct presentation and will be live streamed on YouTube at 4:05 p.m. ET on Thursday. The movie will be released in theaters on April 7, 2023.

The storyline is about "a plumber named Mario who travels through an underground labyrinth with his brother, Luigi, trying to save a captured princess," a movie description from IMDb reads.

The animated movie will be a "feature film adaptation of the popular video game," the description added.

The movie poster shows Mario standing in front of the Mushroom Kingdom with Peaches Castle in the background.

The details look very similar to what is displayed in the Super Mario Bros video games and gives a glimpse of what to expect from the animation quality.

Nintendo and animation studio Illumination announced the movie in September 2021.

Illumination has done the animation for other popular movies including Minions: The Rise of Gru, Dr. Seuss' The Grinch, Despicable Me 3, The Secret Life of Pets, and Minions.
