Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has picked Marcus Rashford to win the prestigious Ballon d’Or trophy in the future.

Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is currently rebuilding the squad and has claimed that he is a few signings away from making a squad that could challenge for the Premier League trophy. He has quite a few talented players but the key ones are Rashford, Paul Pogba, and the newest entrant, Bruno Fernandes.

If the three playmakers strike off in rhythm, Man Utd could once again become one of the top sides in the league. When Fernandes made his debut earlier this year, Man Utd side was without Pogba and Rashford as they were out of action due to their respective injuries.

The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic halted all the soccer leagues in March. With the restart of the Premier League just a few days away, the clubs have begun to train and Solskjaer will look forward to watching these three together on the field.

According to Man Utd defender Shaw, it is Rashford who “looked unstoppable at times this season” and has the potential to become a Ballon d’Or winner at some point in his career.

“He’s looked unstoppable at times this season and he’s looked so confident. I haven’t seen that in him before. He was always confident, but not to this level, and he’s matured so much. He knows he has the ability to be one of the best and he’s pushing himself all the time to maximize that. There’s no reason why, if he keeps going, keeps pushing himself, that he can’t win it (the Ballon d'Or) one day,” Shaw said, according to Man Utd’s official website.

Rashford, who is a product of Man Utd youth academy, has scored 19 goals in 31 appearances this season for the Red Devils, across all tournaments.

Speaking further about the 22-year-old Englishman, Shaw added that the forward has improved massively since his debut and more importantly, he has matured so much.

“He’s improved greatly from when he first came on the scene, not just on the pitch, but off the pitch as well. He’s matured so much. He’s really turned into a man and I think everyone’s seen the way he’s conducted himself off the pitch; especially during this pandemic, he’s been unbelievable."

"He’s a massive example to everyone. He’s matured so much and a lot of credit for that goes to him and also to his family, who have kept him very grounded,” Shaw added.
