Nubia Launches Red Magic 4, A Phone With 144Hz Screen Refresh Rate

Nubia has launched a new gaming phone that features impressive specs that will appeal to more than just gamers.

A new phone that aims to offer the best specs for gaming has been released. Gaming phone company Nubia recently launched the Red Magic 5G – a gaming phone that boasts of the highest screen refresh rate and more, Wccftech reported. Here's what the new gaming phone offers:

Display

Nubia's latest handset has a 6.65-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 2,340 x 1,080 resolution. The display has sleek bezels at the top and bottom sides. As mentioned, it offers 144Hz refresh rates, which is considered the highest in the market at the moment. This is expected to result in super smooth graphics that could benefit games that support it.

The high refresh rate is accompanied by a 240Hz touch-sampling rate, which means interacting with the device will be as smooth as can be. Players won't have to worry about delays in touch responses, particularly when quick taps are crucial to gameplay.

Innards

The Red Magic 5G is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865 SoC, paired with the X55 modem for 5G connectivity. The device can be configured to feature between 8GB or 16GB of RAM. It comes with 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage.

Cameras

This is not just a gaming phone. At the back of the device sits a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 main sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 2-megapixel macro lens, all assembled in a module at the center. In front is an 8-megapixel selfie camera.

The Red Magic 5G also offers a few more interesting features:

• An active cooling system

Nubia equipped the handset with a cooling fan that pulls in cool air on one side of the phone then releases hot air on the other side. The company claims that this cooling system can lower the CPU's temperature by up to 18 degrees celsius, GSM Arena reported.

• Shoulder triggers

The new device features capacitive shoulder triggers with 300Hz sampling rate.

• A huge battery

The device has a 4,500 mAh battery, which is enough for prolonged gameplay.

• Android 10

The Red Magic 5G runs on Android 10, overlaid with Red Magic OS.

• Other details

The handset features Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, has three microphones used for audio recording, and has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Nubia's Red Magic 5G will come in Mars Red, Black and Cyber Neon colors. A limited Transparent Edition will also be available. Sales in China start March 19, and global sales are believed to start next month.
