KEY POINTS

  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti and RTX 3050 GPUs are now official
  • The graphics chipsets were leaked during the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Book Odyssey
  • The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti and RTX 3050 sit under the RTX 3060 in terms of performance

Chipmaker Nvidia has officially launched the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti and GeForce RTX 3050 Graphic Processing Units (GPUs). The new graphics cards fall under a new batch of entry-level gaming laptops that house the Intel 11th Generation processor.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series of mobile graphics processors now have a couple of new members -- the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti and the GeForce RTX 3050. The new GPUs sit under the GeForce RTX 3060 in terms of performance and specs. Both have fewer Tensor AI and RT cores and video memory. However, both GPUs feature ray tracing and can handle AI-enhanced effects like DLSS.

These latest graphics chips from Nvidia introduce Ampere's gaming performance to entry-level laptops. Although these are just entry-level designs, these laptops still offer a good boost in performance compared to the Turing-based GeForce GTX 16 mobility chips lineup. Apart from that, they also provide new technologies like HDMI 2.1, Resizable-BAR and PCIe Gen 4.9 support.

In terms of specifications, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti features 2560 cores within 20 SM units. It has a boosted clock speed of 1485 MHz and an achieved speed of 1695 MHz. The GeForce RTX 3050 Ti features 4 Gb of GDDR6 VRAM across a 128-bit bus interface.

The TGP on this particular graphic chipset is anticipated to peak at 95W. Apart from those, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti packs Dynamic Boost Technology that reduces the actual TGP to only around 80W. Meanwhile, its boosting algorithm pushes 15W into the chip whenever the need arises.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 sports almost the same features as its Ti counterpart. It has a boosted clock speed of 1500 MHz and an achieved speed of 1740. It features 2048 CUDA cores with 16 SM units. It also sports the same 4 GB of GDDR6 VRAM across a 128-bit bus interface.

The new Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 GPU is available on laptops with a starting price of $799. Meanwhile, the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti is available on gaming laptops at a starting price of $849. From earlier leaks, consumers learned that these GPUs are available on Samsung Galaxy Book Odyssey at a starting price of $1,399.
