Olivia Wilde faced backlash on social media after calling Rihanna's boyfriend A$AP Rocky "hot" on her Instagram Story Monday.

The 38-year-old "Don't Worry Darling" director took to the platform to express her admiration for the 34-year-old "Praise the Lord" rapper, writing, "If I thought he was hot before, this really put me over the edge," Page Six reported.

Wilde wrote the message above a video of Rocky filming his longtime girlfriend Rihanna's Super Bowl LVII halftime show Sunday at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. She tagged the "Umbrella" singer, 34, with whom Rocky shares a 9-month-old son and who is currently pregnant with their second child.

The actress took down the post just hours later.

Wilde received criticism from social media users over the post, with some calling her message "inappropriate."

"This is so inappropriate," one Twitter user wrote.

"She's really living up to that last name [of] hers," another commented, referring to the "Babylon" actress' surname, which sounds similar to the word "wild."

"Being a big public figure and thirsting over another celeb's man, [that's] CRAZY," a third user wrote, while another commented, "The way she's saying this with her whole chest and tagging both of them... It's embarrassing."

But some fans came to Wilde's defense and questioned why the actress was getting so much hate.

"Why is Olivia Wilde not allowed to say the objective fact that [A$AP Rocky] is hot?" one fan wrote.

Another commented, "I'm so confused as to why people are so angry. Has she actually done something or are that man's stans being misogynistic again?"

Following the backlash, the "Booksmart" director addressed the reactions via her Instagram Story.

She explained to social media users who "got [the post] twisted" that it was "hot to respect your partner. Especially when your partner just did that," according to Page Six, referring to Rihanna's Sunday performance, her first since the 2018 Grammy Awards.

Wilde is currently single after she and Harry Styles broke up in November last year following nearly two years of dating.

An unnamed source told People at the time that the pair were "taking a break" from their relationship. The 28-year-old "As It Was" singer was still touring across countries, while the filmmaker was focused on her kids and her work in Los Angeles.

An unnamed insider told Page Six that conflicting schedules were the main cause of the breakup.

"It's impossible to have a relationship when he's in every continent [on tour] and Olivia has her job and her kids," the source said. "This is the right thing for both of them."

Wilde and Styles went public with their relationship in January 2021. At the time, the actress had just announced her split from Jason Sudeikis, to whom she had been engaged for seven years and with whom she shares two children, 8-year-old Otis and 6-year-old Daisy.

But Wilde debunked the speculation that she left the 47-year-old "Ted Lasso" star for the former One Direction member, saying in an interview with Vanity Fair in September last year that her relationship with Sudeikis "was over long before" she met Styles.

Wilde was among the 113 million viewers who tuned in to watch the Super Bowl LVII and Rihanna's highly anticipated return to the live stage after nearly seven years.

The Grammy winner performed several of her greatest hits, including "B—h Better Have My Money," "Umbrella," "Diamonds," "Don't Stop the Music" and "Rude Boy," among others.
