Chinese smartphone maker Oppo recently held an event where it announced the Reno 3 and Reno 3 Pro, two new smartphones following months after the Reno 2 which was launched earlier this year. The two devices boast of 5G connectivity, impressive fast charging speeds, and other attractive features.

While both devices can be considered midrange smartphones, they appear promising in terms of specs and features. Here's a quick look at what both devices offer.

Reno 3

The Reno 3 is the first smartphone to use the new MediaTek Dimensity 1000L processor. This chip has four Cortex-A77 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores, working alongside a Mali-G77 GPU, according to GSM Arena. This chip supports networks ranging from 2G to 5G, which means it can be used in more locations that even 4G can't reach. This chip is backed by 8GB or 12GB of RAM.

The smartphone maker says the Reno 3 will be faster than other smartphones since the processor inside it boasts of up to 20% faster performance compared to a chip that uses Cortex-A76 cores. It will also benefit from a custom APU 3.0 that comes along with the chipset.

The Reno 3 has a 6.5-inch OLED display with a waterdrop notch housing a 32MP selfie camera. At the back of the phone rests a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a portrait camera and a 2MP black-and-white sensor.

Reno 3 Pro

The higher-end Reno 3 Pro is powered by a more familiar Snapdragon 765 chipset which is backed by either 8GB or 12GB of RAM. It also has a 6.5-inch OLED display, but this one has a 90Hz refresh rate and 120Hz touch detection rate which will be useful in gaming. A 32MP front-facing camera can be located inside a hole punch at the top-left portion of the screen.

At the back of the Reno 3 Pro rests a four-camera array comprised of a 48MP main sensor, 13MP telephoto sensor, 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor and 2MP black-and-white sensor. This setup boasts of 5x hybrid zoom.

Both devices come with 4,025 mAh batteries that can be charged from zero to full in less than an hour thanks to Oppo's 30W VOOC 4.0 Flash Charge technology, Android Central reported. Both will ship with Android 10-based ColorOS 7. Depending on memory and storage configurations, the Reno 3 will cost between $480 and $530, while the Reno 3 Pro will cost between $570 and $640.
