It’s time to sharpen your fangs, “Originals” fans, because we’ve got some scoop on Season 2 of the hit CW series that you’ll definitely want to sink your teeth into. According to the official synopsis of the sophomore season of “The Originals,” fans are in for a rude awakening when the Julie Plec-created series returns for its Season 2 premiere on Oct. 6.

When the first season of “The Originals” concluded, viewers were left pretty drained after all the drama that went down in “From Cradle to Grave.” The pack of New Orleans werewolves had decimated the vampire community, Hayley and Klaus were forced to fake the death of their daughter Hope after a coven of witches attempted a horrific assassination on the baby and Esther had returned from the spirit world (using the body of a young woman as a vessel) to fulfill her mission of putting an end to her “monstrous” children.

How will the Season 1 finale affect the plot of the sophomore season premiere? Well, according to the summary, our heroes will find themselves “adjusting to a new status quo, with the newly empowered werewolves controlling the city and a myriad unknown threats lurking.” Yep, sounds like “The Originals” to us!

Klaus and Hayley are determined to make New Orleans a safer place so they can bring their daughter home. Currently little Hope, who is thought to be dead, is spending quality -- and safe -- time with her Aunt Rebekah. Claire Holt’s character made a return in the season finale and will reportedly appear in three of Season 2’s episodes.

But as Klaus and Hayley strive to baby-proof New Orleans from bloodthirsty witches and other supernatural villains, they’ll find themselves a bit distracted while battling their own inner demons. “As she adjusts to life as a hybrid, Hayley experiences crippling rage and depression after saying goodbye to her daughter, and Klaus – who needs his strength now more than ever – finds himself regularly weakened as the werewolves use the moonlight rings forged in his blood,” the synopsis teases.

Elijah will also find himself in a bit of a pickle when he sets out to destroy Francesca and her traitorous werewolves without the strength of his family behind him. But as it turns out werewolves should be the least of the brother’s worries. Klaus and Elijah will soon find out that their ruthlessly devious parents have returned from the grave in hopes of seeking vengeance.

“Though their father, Mikael (guest star Sebastian Roché), is controlled by Davina’s magic, he remains ever-intent on killing Klaus – even if he has to go through Davina to do it. Elsewhere, their mother, Esther (guest star Alice Evans), inhabiting the body of a teenage witch, is fueled by a consuming and twisted love for her children as she devises a disturbing plan to reunite her fractured family – a plan that involves untold torment not only for the Original siblings, but for any and all of their loved ones,” the summary concludes.

In the promo for “The Originals,” which was released at the 2014 San Diego Comic Con, it was revealed that when Klaus and Elijah find out that their parents have risen from the dead, the first thought racing through their minds is which one of their parents they should kill first.
